The village of Arda is an old settlement in the Central Rhodopes region. It is situated in a small but picturesque valley on the two banks of the Arda River, 2 km from the spring and 3 km away is the border with neighboring Greece. Its average altitude is about 900-1000 m. The village is surrounded by wooded ridges, hills and rocky hammers which winter keep it from cold northerly winds and in the summer by the hot wind of the Aegean winds.
